Pontiac Cranks

Aftermarket Pontiac Cranks

I'm stunned, and upset.

One of the DUMBEST, thoughtless and stupid friggin' items offered to you today are these

aftermarket cranks that have a 2.200 Chevrolet rod journal. There is no shortage of Pontiac rods bearings.

The Clevite 77 bearing is good enough for any power level you can possibly build.

Finally someone made a 4" stroke aftermarket crank to add to the 4.21 and the dumb 4.250, but the fool things have a 2.200 rod journal. No matter

how you look at it, you're going to spend money you didn't need to.

Stock Pontiac rod journal is 2.250. so a .040 under Pontiac is 2.210.

Ten thou. is not enough of a friction reduction to warrant consideration. (It's .005 a side! That's nothing when considering frictional advantages.)

A .040 rod bearing is still available for us.

If I was wanting to line my pockets with aftermarket crank sales money, I wouldn't force every customer to

buy new rods too. Damn. Are you guys brain dead? Most customers already have good rods.

D'ya ever think that customer might want to reuse his rods?

And if want a REAL advantage then go to the small block Chevy size.

Two inch or even the 2.100, but a 2.200? Stupid, just mechanically and profitably stupid.

If, you want see results from having less friction, (hello!) then make the rod journal smaller by a bunch, not by .010 thou.

And don't listen to any "don't go too small" bullcrap. Pro Stockers are making over 1300 hp and using a 1.875 diameter journal.

So, how smart are you gonna be?
